Congenital Deformities

Although rare, congenital deformities can be a source of major distress to the family.

They can involve any part of the body mainly the head and neck, trunk, and extremities.

One of those deformities involves the lip, palate or both. Such a disorder is usually approached by a team including the plastic surgeon, the orthodontist, the pediatrician, the dietician, the otologist, and speech pathologist. Early intervention by a team of specialists to evaluate your child is essential in cleft lip and/or cleft palate repair.

The team can work together to define a course of treatment, including surgical repair of the cleft, speech rehabilitation and dental restoration.
