Discover your “NEW YOU” before Surgery

Plastic & cosmetic surgery is about beautifying & improving appearance & looks. Prior to deciding to go for any aesthetic procedure, you might ponder about: How would I look after the operation? Would I get a natural look?  How to select the best practicing surgeon?
Until late, patients couldn’t have a visualized answer to their questions & wonderings about their appearance post aesthetic & reconstructive surgeries. The options seem limitless & bewildering.

However, for the first time in plastic surgery history, patients seeking any aesthetic beautifying surgery can envisage their new faces & bodies in 3D web-based virtual preview technique.

Cosmetic Surgery Center is pleased to introduce, along with its various top-tier aesthetic & reconstructive procedures.

Crisalix enables you answer the most common head spinning question: “How might I look after the procedure?” through its unique online technology thereby mitigating your fears & at the same time improving your level of satisfaction both during the consultation and post-surgery.

Crisalix breakthrough is the leading, Swiss made clinically tested virtual reality 4D & 3D imaging solution for patients still hesitant to go through any aesthetic process.

Crisalix allows you discover your new look before undergoing any surgical procedure reconstructing your body from 2D into 3D images using the 3D imaging goggles. You can simulate breast augmentations for instance based on various types of implants, as well as facial and cosmetic procedures, such as botox injections, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), eyelid surgery, body contouring and many more. In this way, you will be able to view the changes from every sort of angle, comparing them to original version of your body.

You can watch the following summative video to better comprehend how that works.

(Insert 3D plastic surgery simulation for face, body and breasts).

The following videos display an illustration for each part aside.

Lymphatic Drainage

This is done in our clinic in the form of a sequential pneumatic compression garment that the patient puts on that gently massages tissue to help accelerate and improve the drainage of lymph. Lymphatic drainge helps improve tissue edema (swelling) after surgery, in pregnancy, and contributes to improved healing of surgical scars.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a convenient, noninvasive method for permanently reducing or removing unwanted facial or body hair. It leaves the skin looking smoother and silkier than waxing, electrolysis or razors and is a gentle technique that can treat larger areas effectively with minimal discomfort and with no downtime. Today, laser hair removal is one of the most common aesthetic procedures performed.

At the Cosmetic Surgery Center, we provide Laser Hair Removal using one of the most advanced and time proved machines (Elite®). This machine is characterized by using two types of LASER beams (Alexandrite and Nd-Yag) giving it the advantage of being able to treat different skin types or colors and different hair sizes. The pain generated from this procedure is very tolerable and almost nil. The results are long standing and usually require fewer sessions that other treatment modalities.

The following are some common reasons why you may want to consider laser hair removal:

  • You have unwanted facial or body hair that makes you feel self-conscious
  • You are looking for an alternative to waxing, electrolysis, shaving and bleaching

B

A. Laser hair removal is safe for all parts of the body, including the face, but a protective eye cover is usually used.

B. Permanently removing or reducing hair on the legs can save time, money and aggravation on shaving and waxing.

About Your Procedure

How is a laser hair removal procedure performed?

Before your laser hair removal treatment, protective eye shields will be placed over your eyes to prevent injury to your corneas or retinas. The hair that will be undergoing treatment will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface. To protect the outer layers of your skin, a cold gel or a special cooling device will be used. This will also make the treatment more effective by facilitating laser light penetration through the skin.

The most popular lasers for hair removal use a low-energy laser beam which will be adjusted to your skin color and to the color, thickness, and location of the hair that is to be removed. A test treatment will first be done by directing a test pulse light to the treatment area. A low-energy laser beam will pass through your skin and be absorbed by the pigment of a percentage of the active-growth hair follicles. This area will be observed to make sure that the settings are correct and to check for any adverse reactions to treatment.

If the test proves successful, the low-energy laser beam is then systematically directed spot-by-spot to the areas to be treated, instantly and permanently disabling the active-growth hair follicles with each treatment. Hair follicles in the dormant phase are not affected by the treatment.

When the procedure is completed, you may be given ice packs, cold water or anti-inflammatory creams or lotions to soothe the treated areas and diminish any discomfort.

Multiple sessions are required for optimal results. Usually three to eight are needed initially, but additional treatments at later dates should be expected, especially if you have endogenous hormone secreting states or exogenous hormone use.

Most surgeons recommend treatment intervals of four to eight weeks, depending on:

  • Your gender, age, hair type, and hair growth pattern
  • The body region being treated
  • The laser or light-based device selected

Preparing For Your Procedure

How do I prepare for a laser hair removal procedure?

In advance of your procedure, your surgeon will ask you to:

  • Wear sunscreen and/or avoid the sun
  • Avoid pretreatment plucking, waxing, or electrolysis
  • Regardless of the type of surgery to be performed, hydration is very important before and after treatment for safe recovery

What can I expect on the day of laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is performed on an outpatient basis. A topical anesthetic gel may be applied before treatment, and skin cooling during the procedure will help keep you comfortable. In most cases, you should experience minimal pain and may feel a slight stinging sensation during the procedure. Most laser hair removal procedures take fifteen to thirty minutes; however, a longer time period may be required, depending on the area being treated.

  • Your surgeon will follow the treatment plan discussed with you.
  • After your procedure is completed, you will be able to return home and resume your normal activities.

Aftercare And Recovery

Immediately following laser hair removal

Immediately after treatment you will have smoother skin and a reduction in the number of hairs in the treated area. You may notice redness or minor skin irritation after the treatment, but this usually resolves quickly. You may need to use specially formulated skin care products and/or a prescribed skin care regimen. Sunscreen is a ‘must’ on any treated areas that are exposed. You should contact your surgeon if your skin redness and irritation persists to see if there is a problem that needs to be treated.

Week two to eight

You may notice an increase in hair growth in the treated area as dormant hair follicles that were not affected by the earlier laser treatment enter their active growing phase. Most surgeons recommend follow-up treatment intervals of approximately 4 to 8 weeks.

How Long Will My Results Last?

Hair removal is permanent but it may take as many as three to eight different sessions to ensure that all active-growth hair follicles have been satisfactorily removed.

Maintain a relationship with your aesthetic plastic surgeon

For safety, as well as the most beautiful and healthy outcome, it’s important to return to your plastic surgeon’s office for follow-up evaluation at prescribed times and whenever you notice any changes in the treatment areas. Do not hesitate to contact your surgeon when you have any questions or concerns.

Tissue Expansion and Scar Revision

Tissue expansion is a relatively straightforward procedure that enables the body to “grow” extra skin for use in reconstructing almost any part of the body.

A silicone balloon expander is inserted under the skin near the area to be repaired and then gradually filled with salt water over time, causing the skin to stretch and grow. It is most commonly used for breast reconstruction following breast removal-but it’s also used to repair skin damaged by birth defects, accidents or surgery, and in certain cosmetic procedures.

Tissue expansion can be performed on all individuals – from infants to elderly men and women. The procedure is used widely in breast reconstruction when there is not enough skin to accommodate a permanent implant to restore a woman’s natural appearance.

It is also an option for repairing or replacing areas of the scalp, where hair growth makes it difficult to replace lost tissue with skin from other areas of the body.

Tissue expansion generally produces excellent results when reconstructing some areas of the face and neck, the hands, arms, and legs.

Expansion offers a near-perfect match of color, texture, and hair-bearing qualities.

Because the skin remains connected to the donor area’s blood and nerve supply, there is a smaller risk that it will die. In addition, because the skin doesn’t have to be moved from one area to another, scars are often less apparent.

On the other hand, skin expansion has one significant drawback – the length of time required to grow additional skin. Depending on the area to be reconstructed, tissue expansion can take as long as three to four months.

During this time, the expander creates what can be an unsightly bulge – which is desirable in breast reconstruction, but can be quite noticeable for someone requiring repair of the scalp or other areas of the body.

Furthermore, the procedure requires repeated visits to the surgeon for injection of the salt water that inflates the balloon. For some people, the inconvenience and obvious appearance of an expander are enough for them to consider other options.

Being a burn surgeon, Dr. Hayek has achieved wide experience in this area and his clients come from all over the Middle East to treat their burn scars with tissue expansion.

Chemical Peeling

Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. If you want your skin to look smoother and younger, consider a chemical peel, which uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers.

A chemical peel, also called chemexfoliation or derma peeling, is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands.

You can improve:

  • Acne or acne scars
  • Age and liver spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Irregular skin pigmentation
  • Rough skin and scaly patches
  • Scars
  • Sun-damaged skin

Chemical peels can be of different depths depending on the result being seeked.
Dr. Hayek office is well equipped for such procedures and will give enough information on the process and the expected results. Most peels are preferrablydone in the winter in order to avoid excessive sun exposure.

Hemangiomas

Vascular masses in infants and young children can range from completely benign such as Hemangiomas and AV malformations, to malignant tumors such as Infantile, Fibrosarcoma, and Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Most benign tumors, especially hemangiomas, are managed conservatively with regular followup unless they involve or obsecure vital structures such as the eyes, mouth and neck areas.

The diagnosis can be most of the time made clinically by history and physical exam and it’s very important to present early in order to make the correct diagnosis. [Hayek, S., Janom, H., Ibrahim, A., Koutobi, A., Khalifeh, H., Moran, S.

Congenital Deformities

Although rare, congenital deformities can be a source of major distress to the family.

They can involve any part of the body mainly the head and neck, trunk, and extremities.

One of those deformities involves the lip, palate or both. Such a disorder is usually approached by a team including the plastic surgeon, the orthodontist, the pediatrician, the dietician, the otologist, and speech pathologist. Early intervention by a team of specialists to evaluate your child is essential in cleft lip and/or cleft palate repair.

The team can work together to define a course of treatment, including surgical repair of the cleft, speech rehabilitation and dental restoration.

Facial Fractures

Facial Trauma is a very common injury especially in a country with a high rate of car accidents.

In addition to soft tissue injuries, facial bones might get fractured and as such will need repair by a skilled plastic surgeon.

Many times the patient will need those bones to be fixed using small screws and plates through hidden approaches such as the mouth or the natural facial creases.

Dr. Hayek underwent rigorous training during his residency and other special courses in the management of such highly complex injuries.

Fat Injection

Fat is abundant in all our bodies and is the most natural soft tissue filler.

The major advantages of the fat are the low rate of infection, the natural feeling upon palpation, and the durability.

Because fat is composed of live cells, it changes with the fat deposition of the body which adds to its advantages.

Usually about 70% of the total amount injected stays alive and this amount lives forever.

Unless needed in very large amounts, fat transfer can be done under local anesthesia as a clinic procedure. It can be transferred to the face, buttock and trunk.

Until now, fat injection is not advisable in the breast due to the small risk of being mistaken for breast cancer on screening mammography.

This field is still under research.

Vaser Lipoplasty

VASER Lipoplasty uses ultrasonic energy to selectively break apart fat deposits while preserving other important tissues.

It can be used in conjunction with liposuction the ease the breakdown and suctioning of fat. It is worth noting that up until now, there is no comparative study that has proven that VASER or any other energy assisted liposuction can achieve better cosmetic results or more skin tightening than the regular liposuction.

Only one study has shown that people undergoing large volume liposuction lose less blood when using VASER compared to regular liposuction.

Reduction of Male Breast / Gynecomastia

Breast reduction for men, or gynecomastia, is the surgical correction of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men.

In addition to the low self esteem that this problem causes, it involves a lot of social embarrassment for those men and youngsters who have it. A simple procedure can correct their life and get them back to their normal social interaction.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is achieved through several plastic surgery techniques that attempt to restore a breast to near normal shape, appearance and size following mastectomy.

Although breast reconstruction can rebuild your breast, the following should be noted:

A reconstructed breast will not have the same sensation and feel as the breast it replaces.

Visible incision lines will always be present on the breast, whether from reconstruction or mastectomy.

Certain surgical techniques will leave incision lines at the donor site, commonly located in less exposed areas of the body such as the back, abdomen or buttocks.

If only one breast is affected, it alone may be reconstructed.

In addition, a breast lift, breast reduction or breast augmentation may be recommended for the opposite breast to improve symmetry of the size and position of both breasts.

Breast Reduction

Also known as reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction surgery removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.

Women who present with large breasts usually complain about 4 major issues:

Heavy weight of the breasts leading to shoulder grooves, neck pain and shoulder pain.

Increased friction between the breasts and the chest/abdominal wall leading to skin irritation and decreased hygiene.

Inability to find clothes and underwear that fit properly.

Social embarrassment especially when talking to men.

Pain is usually very well controlled after the surgery and the hospital stay is for one day at a maximum.

Complication rates are very low and patient satisfaction has been always very high after this procedure.

Mastopexy or Breast Lift

Commonly referred to as a breast lift, mastopexy surgery raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from:

  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Aging
  • Gravity
  • Heredity

Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted.

If the breasts are droopy and small at the same time, a mastopexy-augmentation can be performed by inserting an implant at the same time of the lift resulting in a larger younger looking breast.

Several techniques have been described and used throughout history that differ not only in scars but also in the rate of complications and in the preservation of the nipple-areola vascularity and sensation. Dr. Hayek has been instrumental together with his mentors to modify and add to existing techniques and presented his modifications and results in national and international scientific meetings.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery involves using implants to fulfill your desire for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy.

The implants used are usually filled with silicone gels and they have been proven by studies that they do not cause breast cancer or any other disease. For an update concerning the PIP Implant scandal please refer to our latest news.

The implants used are permanent and there is no need to replace them unless injured or ruptured which is very rare to happen.

The implants can be placed under the breast itself or under the chest muscles (pectoral muscles) depending on the patient condition.

The recovery from this procedure is very fast especially if the implants are inserted under the breast with very minimal possible complications.

Botox

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates wrinkles resulting from facial muscle increased resting tone such as frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.

Botox injection is done at bed side and takes about 5 minutes to perform.

Results take between 5-7 days for full effect to appear. Dr. Hayek believes that botox inection should be done in enough dose to just remove the wrinkle while preserving the facial expressions to maintain a natural look.

Complications from botox injection are extremely rare and most of the time are reversible.

Dr. Hayek will explain such processes during your interview before the procedure.
